Description
Symbio is a software company revolutionizing global communication. Our platform offers a comprehensive communication stack, spanning carrier infrastructure to enterprise collaboration, serving diverse Asia-Pacific regions. Combining telecom and software expertise, we drive the evolution of modern communication. Symbio operates under the Aussie Broadband Group, a rapidly expanding technology services provider with a market capitalization exceeding $1 billion (AUD), listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX: ABB). We are looking for a skilled Network Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager – Core Networks, you will play an important role in supporting, monitoring and maintaining our data centre network environment, helping to ensure performance, reliability and continuous improvement across the network. About you: A degree in computer science, engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience. Demonstrated experience in large enterprise or ISP/telco network environments, including MPLS (L3VPN, L2VPN/VPWS, LDP/SR) and core routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF and IS-IS on carrier-grade platforms including Cisco IOS-XR. Strong troubleshooting capability across complex distributed environments, with the ability to diagnose issues across underlay and overlay networks and identify root causes effectively. Solid Linux administration experience, ideally in a network operations environment, with exposure to platforms such as RHEL and Ubuntu. A collaborative and adaptable approach, supported by strong communication skills, a practical problem-solving mindset and willingness to participate in an after-hours on-call roster. Experience with modern data centre network fabrics, including Cisco Nexus or Arista environments using VXLAN/EVPN overlays and BGP underlay architectures, will be highly regarded. Experience with Python-based network automation tools such as Netmiko, Nornir or NAPALM, along with NetBox or similar IPAM/DCIM platforms used as a source of truth, will also be highly regarded. What you’ll be responsible for: Operate, monitor and maintain the company’s MPLS core, data centre networks and global WAN environment to ensure high availability and strong network performance. Configure, integrate and manage network infrastructure, including forecasting, planning, ordering, installing and deploying equipment to meet current and future traffic demands. Support automation initiatives by developing and using tools, scripts and CI/CD pipelines to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort across network operations. Respond to and resolve escalated technical issues, outages, alarms and after-hours incidents, ensuring all activities are recorded accurately and promptly while participating in the on-call roster. Work closely with internal teams and stakeholders to gather requirements, provide technical input, manage risks, and support successful project delivery and handover. Contribute to the development and maintenance of network policies, procedures and documentation, including low-level designs, peer reviews and engineering records. Act in accordance with health and safety standards, comply with safe working procedures and report any incident, accident or hazard. What's it like to work here?
