About the job
Network Engineer
Singapore | Permanent | Financial Markets Technology
EC1 Partners is working with a leading global financial markets technology business that is continuing to build out its Singapore infrastructure team. This is an opportunity for a Network Engineer with approximately 3–7 years of experience to join a highly technical environment supporting critical trading platforms, low-latency infrastructure, customer connectivity, market data access, and globally distributed production systems.
The role would suit a hands-on network engineer who has built strong foundations across routing, switching, firewalls, troubleshooting, and production support and is looking to develop further within a sophisticated financial markets environment.
Experience within trading or financial services would be beneficial, but candidates from other high-availability, technology-led, or business-critical environments will also be considered.
The Role
You will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving network infrastructure across production, disaster recovery, and test environments. The position is highly hands-on and will involve a combination of BAU support, project delivery, troubleshooting, network changes, customer connectivity, packet analysis, automation, and operational improvement.
You will work alongside experienced network, infrastructure, systems, security, engineering, operations, and customer-facing teams across multiple regions, gaining exposure to a complex global network environment while helping ensure stability, performance, resilience, and reliability across business-critical platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and maintain low-latency network infrastructure across a global production environment.
- Troubleshoot network issues across routing, switching, firewalls, connectivity, latency, packet loss, TCP, multicast, and network performance.
- Assist with network changes, upgrades, maintenance windows, hardware deployments, and capacity planning.
- Support connectivity into exchanges, brokers, data centres, vendors, customers, and other market participants.
- Assist with customer connectivity onboarding, testing, certification, and troubleshooting.
- Use packet capture and analysis tools to investigate market data behaviour, packet loss, latency, multicast gaps, and connectivity issues.
- Work with senior engineers and wider infrastructure teams during production incidents, root cause analysis, service restoration, and remediation.
- Contribute to network automation, monitoring, documentation, and operational process improvement.
- Develop deeper knowledge of financial markets connectivity, low-latency networking, and globally distributed trading infrastructure.
- Take ownership of production issues and network changes within a highly controlled environment.
Experience Required
- Approximately 3–7 years of hands-on network engineering experience within a production environment.
- Strong fundamentals across routing, switching, TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, multicast, VLANs, firewalls, and network security.
- Experience supporting high-availability, high-performance, or business-critical infrastructure.
- Exposure to financial services, trading, exchanges, market data, or capital markets technology would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Experience with Cisco, Arista, Juniper, or similar enterprise network technologies.
- Good troubleshooting skills with the ability to methodically diagnose network and connectivity issues.
- Exposure to firewall technologies such as Palo Alto or Fortinet would be highly beneficial.
- Experience with packet capture and packet analysis tools such as Corvil, Wireshark, tcpdump, or similar would be advantageous.
- Exposure to Python, scripting, APIs, automation, UNIX shell, monitoring, Grafana, Ansible, or other infrastructure tooling would be beneficial.
- AWS cloud networking experience would be advantageous.
- CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIP, AWS, Network+, Security+, Corvil, or similar certifications would be viewed positively.
