Position Description
The Network Engineer JP9101 L3 provides specialist communications and network engineering services in support of the design, integration, verification and delivery of EDHFCS networking capabilities.
The role focuses on voice, video and data communications, including their convergence across secure Defence networks, and supports LAN, WAN and other network environments within the capability baseline.
The position works under the direction of the Deputy Engineering Manager JP9101 and contributes to technical delivery, assurance and contractor oversight in accordance with Defence standards and IC3SPO engineering processes.
Responsibilities
- Perform network engineering activities across voice, video and data systems, including converged communications environments.
- Provide specialist advice on data communications, telecommunications and network engineering within the EDHFCS context.
- Support development and integration of secure, resilient Defence network architectures, including LAN and WAN.
- Contribute to capability and concept development for communications network elements of EDHFCS.
- Conduct requirements analysis, development and allocation.
- Ensure network requirements are traceable to system-level capability needs and operational use cases.
- Support network architecture and design.
- Review design documentation and specialist network engineering reports.
- Develop and review engineering artefacts.
- Ensure documentation meets Defence, contractual and IC3SPO quality requirements.
- Provide engineering support throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist with technical risks, issues and network performance concerns.
- Support cybersecurity and network hardening considerations.
- Review contractor deliverables.
- Engage Defence stakeholders, industry partners and other engineering disciplines.
- Participate in engineering reviews, design reviews and technical working groups.
- All other tasks as directed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Chartered Professional Engineer or ability to attain chartered status.
- Tertiary qualifications in Network Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science or related discipline.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Leadership and management experience.
- ASDEFCON Suite experience.
