JOIN THE JACKSON COUNTY INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL DISTRICT

Summary: Provides tier 3 technical support for both network and systems related issues. Provides support for configuring, installing, maintaining and upgrading wired and wireless network infrastructure equipment and related security services. Maintains routing, monitors traffic, diagnoses and resolves network problems. Implements, maintains, and upgrades computer, storage, and disaster recovery systems both on premises and in the cloud. Assists leadership with network and systems design.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Work is performed under the general supervision of administration. An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following: (Does not include all tasks the employee may be expected to perform.)

  • Supports the installation, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery of all network related cabling and equipment, including enterprise class routers, switches, firewalls, access points, and other network appliances.
  • Supports the installation, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery of all physical and virtualized servers, including the server virtualization environment. Maintains ability to work with multiple operating systems on various platforms.
  • Supports the installation, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery of SAN and Storage Array hardware.
  • Implements/monitors/maintains multiple Internet Service Providers (ISP’s) including BGP routing with ISP circuits.
  • Supports the planning, implementation, delivery, and optimization of Active Directory services using methodologies that align with the principle of least privilege.
  • Supports the planning, implementation, delivery, and optimization of Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 environments using methodologies that align with the principle of least privilege.
  • Administers identity and authentication systems including federated services and two factor authentication systems.
  • Supports the installation, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery of underlying network infrastructure technologies, including DHCP and DNS.
  • Supports the installation, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery of on premise and cloud hosted backup solutions.
  • Supports the delivery of wireless planning, implementation and optimization services.
  • Supports the delivery of planning, implementation and optimization of network services using methodologies that align with the principle of least privilege.
  • Assists in implementing system upgrades, enhancements and expansions.
  • Supports the creation of update policies, monitoring the patch rollout, and troubleshooting of failed patch applications of infrastructure equipment and systems.
  • Supports the administration, optimization, and monitoring of imaging. Builds and maintains base images.
  • Supports the administration, optimization, and monitoring of Windows and other operating systems update services.
  • Supports the delivery, security, monitoring, and routine auditing of remote network access.
  • Monitors the datacenter, network, and systems for problems, performs troubleshooting and incident response, communicates with Core Services and Field Services staff and tracks problems through to resolution.
  • Participates in the evaluation, operation and testing of software, hardware and network configurations.
  • Plans, configures, and implements failover systems.
  • Diagnoses and resolves equipment and systems problems on a timely basis; arranges for additional technical support as needed and provides timely updates to all stakeholders.
  • Supports the Consortium and member districts’ fiber optic network, including troubleshooting, coordinating repair, and participating with third party vendors.
  • Acts as a content area expert consulting with departmental staff as well as Consortium stakeholders regarding network engineering, systems, and security.
  • Provides technical assistance and training to end users on network operations, systems and procedures.
  • Consults with Field Services staff on the installation and configuration of door access and security camera systems. Configures devices in the systems.
  • Develops and maintains up to date documentation of all infrastructure components and advises on device lifecycles.
  • Delegated primary responsibility for specific systems at the discretion of departmental leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Provide after-hours support as needed.
  • Transport self to various worksites in a personal motor vehicle.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required for this position. In-person attendance requirements may vary and will be determined by the supervisor.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in systems administration and/or routing and switching.
