Description GENERAL SUMMARY The Network Engineer designs, implements, and maintains the computer networks that enable business operations. This role ensures the reliability, security, and performance of network systems, including hardware, software applications, and configurations. The Network Engineer also manages and optimizes computing environments to support organizational needs and deliver seamless connectivity. Requirements ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES The responsibilities and duties described in this job description are intended to provide a general overview of the position. Duties may vary depending on the specific needs of the affiliate or location you are working at and/or state requirements. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Install and set up network hardware like routers, switches, and firewalls. Perform routine maintenance, apply security patches and system updates, and plan and execute upgrades to improve performance and functionality. Protect the network from unauthorized access and cyber threats by implementing and maintaining security protocols, firewalls, and VPNs. Monitor network traffic and performance to identify and resolve issues, and optimize configurations for efficiency. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity problems for end-users and the overall network. Manage user accounts, permissions, and access settings, and provide training and support to users on network-related issues. Create and maintain documentation for network configurations, changes, procedures, and user guides. Implement and manage backup solutions to ensure data is securely saved and develop disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime. Performs other position related duties as assigned. Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS CCNA – Preferred but not required KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Skill in using computer programs, applications and operating systems. Ability to work independently and manage deadlines. Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. Has system architecture and tiered application modules knowledge. Understands end-to-end data flows and traffic patterns. Knowledge of Wide Area Network technology provisioning and configuration, and WAN equipment configurations. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 1-3 years related experience required including Network Design.
