Description

Summary: Seeking a creative and experienced Network Engineer to work in an exciting, fast-paced environment, supporting the hardware layer of a network management platform. This position will provide network support to our client sites, especially those located in Europe, and perform maintenance tasks, including firmware updates. This individual will work closely with firewalls, network switches, access points, and other infrastructure devices. This position works with other engineers and leadership to provide an exceptional customer experience, efficiently responding, resolving, and escalating network events as they occur. This individual will report directly to the Engineering Director.
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, during normal business hours 9am-5:30pm. This position will work from our offices at the Arding & Hobbs building in London. This position could be structured as a direct full-time hire, independent contractor, or sole trader depending on the individual. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required based on client needs.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, creative self-starter.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of networking principles and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, AAA, Radius etc.).
  • Experience with network hardware and software including Cisco, Juniper, Meraki, Watchguard, Extreme, Fortigate, etc.
  • Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Prior experience in a weekend work environment is preferred.
  • Industry certifications a plus, including CCNA, CCNP, CMNA, CompTIA Network+, etc.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
  • Configure new network hardware for client sites, adhering to existing standards.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support ongoing projects and initiatives.
  • Perform regular network maintenance tasks including firmware upgrades, patch management, and system backups.
  • Respond to network incidents and outages promptly, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and future reference.
  • Research industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in network engineering.
  • Collaborate with software engineering team on our custom network automation software, assisting with infrastructure hardware compatibility and configurations.
  • Visit client sites and install, or support the installation of, networking equipment.
  • Participate in a regular on-call schedule.
