Legal Services NYC (LSNYC) fights poverty and seeks racial, social and economic justice for low-income New Yorkers. For over 50 years, we have challenged systemic injustices that trap people in poverty and provided legal services that help our clients meet basic needs for housing, income and economic security, family and immigration stability, education, and health care. The Opportunity: The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the organization's network infrastructure. This role requires a strong understanding of networking principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with various networking technologies, including SD-WAN, Fortinet switches and routers, as well as proficiency in managing AWS environments, integrating Okta for identity management, and managing endpoints via Intune. Responsibilities: • Configure and optimize network hardware and software to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability, utilizing SD-WAN technologies where applicable. • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues, including connectivity problems, bottlenecks, and outages. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement network solutions that meet the organization's needs and objectives. • Perform network capacity planning and scalability assessments to support business growth and expansion. • Develop and maintain documentation related to network configurations, processes, and procedures. • Implement and maintain network security measures to protect against unauthorized access, viruses, and other security threats. • Evaluate new networking technologies and products to recommend enhancements or upgrades to the existing infrastructure. • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and other IT staff as needed. • Respond to network emergencies outside of regular business hours. • Utilize Okta for identity and access management, including single sign-on (SSO) and multi-factor authentication (MFA) solutions. • Integrate AWS services into the network infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity and optimal performance. • Implement and maintain VoIP phone systems, including call routing, quality of service (QoS) configurations, and troubleshooting. Requirements: • Proven experience as a Network Engineer or similar role, with a minimum of 5 years in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting. • In-depth knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF). • Hands-on experience with Fortinet switches and routers, as well as familiarity with SD-WAN technologies. • Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access control lists. • Experience with network monitoring and management tools, such as Wireshark, Nagios, SolarWinds, or similar. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues. • Effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively. • Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or equivalent certifications are a plus. Legal Services NYC is open weekdays. Some evening hours and ability to respond to emergency calls or pages are required. Salary is based on experience and pursuant to a Collective Bargaining Agreement, with excellent benefits and generous leave time. Dependent on work history and experience.
