Overview DecisionPoint seeks a Senior Network Engineer to lead the design, monitoring, and sustainment of secure, high-availability network environments supporting a Department of Defense (DoD) enterprise modernization initiative. This effort enhances information sharing, system performance, and operational continuity for Casualty and Mortuary Affairs (CMA) mission systems across multiple Service components. The Senior Network Engineer will provide Tier 3 support for routing, bandwidth, and firewall configurations across multiple enclaves and cloud environments, ensuring mission-critical connectivity and compliance with DoD security standards. Duties & Responsibilities The Network Engineer, Sr. will: Design, configure, and maintain network infrastructure architectures supporting secure connectivity across IL2, IL4, and IL5 environments. Monitor and manage routing, bandwidth utilization, firewall performance, and enclave connectivity, ensuring optimized throughput and reliability. Serve as Tier 3 escalation support, troubleshooting complex network issues affecting connectivity between Service components, mission enclaves, and cloud-hosted systems. Support baseline development and deployment of network services, integrating physical and virtual networking solutions to meet mission requirements. Develop and maintain network topology diagrams, IP schema documentation, and configuration management records. Implement and validate firewall rules, VPN configurations, and access control policies in accordance with DoD security guidelines and Zero Trust architecture principles. Monitor network performance using approved enterprise tools to detect latency, packet loss, or bandwidth constraints, and recommend corrective actions. Collaborate with cybersecurity, systems engineering, and cloud operations teams to ensure network compliance with DoD and DISA standards, including STIGs and Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guides (CC SRGs). Conduct periodic enclave health checks, configuration audits, and network risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and areas for optimization. Support deployment and sustainment of redundant connectivity solutions ensuring high availability, failover capability, and mission resilience. Participate in technical design reviews and change management processes, ensuring all updates align with approved architectural and security baselines. Provide input to Continuity of Operations (COOP) planning and network recovery exercises. Qualifications Clearance Requirement: Must hold an active Secret clearance. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline. Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in network engineering, design, and operations for enterprise-scale federal or defense environments. Experience supporting multi-enclave or cloud-hybrid networks within IL2–IL5 classifications. Technical Knowledge: Expertise in routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and firewall management (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Fortinet). Proficiency in VPN, VLAN, and subnet configuration, and monitoring tools such as SolarWinds or Cisco Prime. Familiarity with DoD network compliance standards, including DISA STIGs, ACAS, and RMF processes. Experience with AWS GovCloud and Azure Government networking architectures preferred. Understanding of Zero Trust Network Architecture (ZTNA) principles and enclave segmentation strategies. Certifications (Preferred): Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent. AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty or Microsoft Azure Network Engineer Associate. Security+ CE or CISSP (DoD 8570/8140 compliance). Skills: Strong analytical and diagnostic capabilities for complex network environments. Excellent documentation and configuration management practices. Ability to coordinate across cybersecurity, cloud, and systems engineering disciplines. Proactive mindset with a focus on reliability, redundancy, and performance optimization. Strong communication skills for stakeholder reporting and technical briefings.
