Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Design and Implementation:
    • Design, configure, and deploy LANs, WANs, WLANs, and other network infrastructure to meet business requirements.
    • Implement and manage network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs.
    • Plan and execute network upgrades and expansions to support organizational growth.
  • Network Maintenance and Support:
    • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
    • Perform regular maintenance, including firmware updates, patch management, and hardware replacements.
    • Diagnose and resolve network-related issues, including connectivity, latency, and security problems.
  • Network Security:
    • Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and VPNs.
    • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, GDPR).
  • Performance Optimization:
    • Analyze network traffic and performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and optimize network performance.
    • Implement Quality of Service (QoS) policies to prioritize critical applications and services.
    • Recommend and implement improvements to enhance network efficiency and scalability.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and procedures.
    • Generate reports on network performance, incidents, and resolutions for management review.
    • Develop and update disaster recovery and business continuity plans for network infrastructure.
  • Collaboration and Support:
    • Work closely with IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders to support network-related projects and initiatives.
    • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and other IT staff.
    • Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical network issues.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 3+ years of experience in network engineering or administration.
    • Hands-on experience with network hardware (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto) and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs).
    • Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG).
    • Experience with cloud networking (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in configuring and managing routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
    • Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
    • Knowledge of VoIP, SIP, and unified communications systems.
    • Experience with scripting or automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible) is a plus.
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
    • CompTIA Network+, Juniper Networks Certified Associate (JNCIA), or equivalent.
    • Certifications in network security (e.g., CISSP, CEH) are a plus.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
