Network Engineer – Full time, 6 month fixed-term contract

Role Purpose
Join Uniting on a fixed-term basis to deliver a large-scale switch upgrade project. This role will involve the configuration, installation, and migration of Cisco Catalyst and Meraki switches, including physical rack installation and cabling. The position requires travel to various sites to complete on-site installations and cutover activities, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, install, and upgrade Cisco Catalyst and Meraki switches.
  • Lead and execute cutover activities while ensuring minimal service disruption.
  • Travel to customer and company sites to perform installations and migrations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues during and after migrations.
  • Collaborate with project managers and IT teams to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Configure and support Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC) as required.
  • Perform rack installation, cable management, and patching in line with best practices.
  • Document configurations, network diagrams, and migration procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience with Cisco Catalyst and Meraki switch configuration, deployment, and Cisco Prime.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco WLC configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Cisco Certification (e.g. CCNA, CCNP) required.
  • Strong knowledge of WAN, LAN, WLAN, and VPN technologies.
  • Experience with Meraki SD-WAN solutions.
  • Basic scripting skills (e.g. Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation and configuration tasks.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a project team.
  • Solid knowledge of rack installation, cabling standards, and cutover processes.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel to multiple sites.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Availability to work after-hours during migration windows when required.
