Seeking a Network Engineer with 5-7+ years’ experience as a network engineer with exposure to MPLS, IP and Ethernet.


Position Description

Responsible for the day-to-day systems and network administration, and provision of cross functional support to other areas within the IT department when required.


Key Role and Responsibiities

  • Design and implementation new network solutions and / or improving the efficiency of current networks.
  • Administration of network infrastructure devices including: routers, switches and firewalls.
  • Operational support which includes provisioning, asset management, monitoring, implementation, troubleshooting and support Networking operations and related infrastructure.
  • Implement and maintain network security measures.
  • Monitor network performance.
  • Implement/upgrade systems as required.
  • Ensure documentation is kept updated on a regular basis.
  • Keep abreast of new technologies and advise on potential uses.
  • Hardware acquisitions (testing, selection, ordering, set to work).
  • General support to the IT Division as required.


Knowledge/Skills /Abilities

  • 5-7+ years’ experience as a network engineer with exposure to MPLS, IP and Ethernet.
  • Extensive experience with various network types including LANs. WANs, SANs and VOIP.
  • Extensive experience with switching and routing.
  • Previous experience with Extreme Switching technology (desirable).
  • Previous experience of Fortinet Firewalls.
  • Experience with Linux based systems is highly desirable.
  • Tertiary qualification or Diploma, industry certifications in relevant fields.
  • A high level of analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills to engage with, influence, build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated workload prioritisation skills in a high volume environment.
  • Flexibility to attend to urgent issues out of hour’s if/when required.
  • Works well independently and in team settings.
  • Effective documentation skills.
  • Perform responsibilities in a proactive manner as directed within determined times frames and a high degree of accuracy.


Permanent role - $140K + Super

Security Required: NV2 Security Clearance required

Location - Canberra
