Description

One of our clients located in Bay Area is is seeking an on-site Senior IT Network Engineer – Wi-Fi Specialist to design, implement, and support enterprise wireless networks. Requires expertise in Layer 2/3, Wi-Fi tools (Ekahau, AirMagnet), Cisco/Aruba/Meraki, and strong troubleshooting skills.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering with at least 3 years focused on enterprise wireless networking.
  • Strong hands-on experience with enterprise Wi-Fi solutions (Cisco, Aruba, Meraki, etc.).
  • Proficient in wireless standards and technologies: 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax, MIMO, beamforming, channel planning.
  • Familiar with authentication methods such as RADIUS, EAP, and Active Directory integration.
  • Skilled in using Wi-Fi tools like Ekahau, NetSpot, Wireshark, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Understanding of networking protocols: TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, QoS, etc

Responsibilities
  • Design and architect scalable, secure, and high-performing Wi-Fi networks for enterprise corporate offices, campuses, and remote sites.
  • Conduct wireless site surveys (predictive and physical) using tools like Ekahau or AirMagnet.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and tuning of wireless access points (APs), controllers, and related infrastructure (e.g., Aruba, Cisco, Meraki, Ruckus).
  • Develop and implement Wi-Fi security standards, including WPA3, 802.1X, RADIUS integration, and rogue AP detection.
  • Monitor wireless network performance, capacity, and usage to identify and resolve coverage issues and bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with other network, security, and application teams to ensure seamless connectivity and integration.
  • Lead or support large-scale wireless projects, including upgrades, redesigns, and new deployments.
  • Expert understanding of Layer 2/Layer 3 networking
  • Technically proficient at building highly resilient networks in an enterprise
  • Strong knowledge of network management platforms
  • Maintain and update documentation: network diagrams, SOPs, and topology maps.
  • Provide mentorship to junior network engineers and assist with technical training initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, HIPAA).
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to critical wireless outages or performance incidents.
