Description

The Network Infrastructure Solution Architect is part of a Global IT team and is primarily responsible for designing and supporting the implementation of strategic network-related projects and transformations. This role contributes to the definition of a multi-year technology roadmap for the Global Network Infrastructure, ensuring it aligns with business requirements and the overall IT strategy.
In close collaboration with the service owners and business stakeholders, the network infrastructure solution architect defines and governs global standards for network technologies. The role ensures that selected solutions are secure, well-integrated, cost-effective, and avoid redundancy, delivering optimal performance and scalability for Olympus’ global operations.
A critical aspect of this role is ensuring that IT security principles, data protection measures, and compliance requirements are embedded in all network infrastructure designs and services. By doing so, the Network Infrastructure Solution Architect helps protect Olympus’ information assets while enabling reliable and future-ready connectivity across the organization.

IT Network Infrastructure Solution Architect

  • Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of secure, scalable, and highly available network infrastructure solutions across on-premise, hybrid, and cloud environments.
  • Support the architecture, design, and integration of voice and network solutions, including WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi, DNS, VoIP, SIP, Unified Communications (UC), Contact Center technologies, and collaboration platforms.
  • Lead the definition of the Global Network strategy roadmap in alignment with overall IT and Enterprise Architecture strategies supporting the business needs and objectives. This includes the network strategy for manufacturing, R&D, and cloud services.
  • Design and recommend network solutions that are well-integrated with existing infrastructure, ensuring modernization, interoperability, cost-efficiency, security, and scalability.
  • Design automation and orchestration capabilities in network provisioning and configuration using modern techniques, fostering agility and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure network designs incorporate security best practices, data protection principles, and compliance with global and local standards and policies.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of network performance monitoring and optimization strategies, proactively identifying and addressing bottlenecks, risks, and vulnerabilities to ensure high availability andreliability.
  • Identify and drive the adoption of innovative networking technologies (e.g., SD-WAN, SASE, Zero Trust, enterprise voice and video services) that support digital transformation initiatives aligned with business needs.
  • Participate in architecture review and IT change boards to ensure governance, standardization, and alignment across the global IT landscape.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architects, application teams, security teams, and third-party service providers to deliver robust and reliable networking services.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of architecture decisions, designs, standards, and best practices. Support knowledge transfer across IT teams.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or a related field.
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered.

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 10 years of experience in IT, with 8 years specifically in Network Architecture.
  • 3–5 years of experience leading global IT infrastructure projects in environments of similar size and complexity to Olympus.
  • Strong expertise in Manufacturing/ShopFloor IT.
  • Proven and recent experience in IT Network Solution Design for IT Infrastructure Services.
  • Experience working with external service providers.
  • Familiarity with ITIL service management processes.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex global projects and driving organizational changes in a multi-national company.
  • Preferred: Experience in the Medical industry, either in a consulting capacity or directly within a Life Science/Healthcare company.

MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE:

  • Preferred: Experience in managing staff, including conducting work reviews and performance evaluations.
  • Preferred: Experience in successfully managing project teams and project stakeholders across multiple geographies.

SKILLS AND EXPERTISE:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of IT infrastructure products, services, and technologies required to support effective technology infrastructures.
  • Strong expertise in Network products, including:
  • LAN/WAN, SDWAN, Zero Trust, Firewalls, DNS, Infrastructure as Code, Network Voice, Cloud Services, and all related Security components.
