SUMMARY

Joining the Secret Service, Office of Field Operations, Chicago Field Office will allow you to draw on your technological expertise to perform complex network intrusion investigations, computer/digital media forensic examinations, as well as criminal case preparation and subsequent prosecution associated with the attempted criminal exploitation of the nation’s critical infrastructure.

TO BE CONSIDERED QUALIFIED FOR THIS POSITION YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE RESPECTIVE GRADE LEVEL IN WHICH YOU ARE APPLYING.

You qualify for the GS-12 level (starting salary $$99,069.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing duties such as:

  • Utilizing technical equipment and software to conduct network intrusion investigations, digital forensics and mobile forensics to support criminal cases.
  • Providing computer forensic support to law enforcement investigations such as evidence seizure, data recovery and training.
  • Assisting in the identification and collection of digital and/or mobile evidence to be used in support of a criminal investigation.

You qualify for the GS-13 level (starting salary $117,807) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level performing duties such as:

  • Conducting computer forensic analysis or network forensic analysis, and mobile device forensic analysis.
  • Providing computer forensic support to law enforcement investigations such as evidence seizure, data recovery, and training.

DUTIES

The selectee will serve as a Network Intrusion Forensic Analyst in the Office of Field Operations, Chicago Field Office. Typical work assignments include:

  • Serving as a Network Intrusion Forensic Analyst performing digital forensic examinations and live analysis on operational computer systems and /or networks.
  • Serving as a digital forensic analyst who utilizes specialized hardware and software to conduct complex digital forensic analysis in support of complex criminal investigations.
  • Preparing technical written reports detailing the findings of their examination of digital evidence.
  • Serving and testifying as a witness at trials in support of criminal proceedings.
