KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Network configuration and management of Cisco, Juniper, FortiGate and Unifi devices
  • Network monitoring and Troubleshooting skills using tools such as PRTG, Wireshark,
  • Understanding and practical knowledge in supporting VoIP & unified communication solutions
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and strong attention to details
  • Strong communications, both written and verbal, in coordinating with peers and other disciplines on driving projects/issues to closure.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/tasks/trouble tickets.
  • Ability to meet committed timelines, leveraging assistance/input from peers.
  • Strong and effective team player in working with various disciplines and peer groups; can cover all gamut of tasks required to ‘getting a job done.’
  • Ability and willingness to create & maintain documentation (including network diagrams) to be used for cross-training purposes.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering or related fields
  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) required
  • CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) is a plus but not required
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience working/managing Cisco Switches (Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, ASR routers).
  • 5+ years of experience working with enterprise networks & services, VPNs, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, Directory services, Radius, etc.
  • 2+ years hands-on experience working with Juniper CX series switches
  • 2+ years of experience in supporting firewall devices
  • Direct/indirect experience as a Network or Systems Engineer working with VMware Infrastructure & technologies (ESXi, vCenter, VSAN)
  • Adept with cyber networking and sleuthing
  • Experience in PBX and Call systems such as FreePBX, Asterisk, etc.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the operation of network systems, including LAN (Local Area Network), WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network), VPN (Virtual Private Network) & WAN (Wide Area Network)
  • Identify and resolve network issues, ensuring optimal uptime and reliability.
  • Configure/Manage/support network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) and software, including installation, configuration, and updates.
  • Plan, design, and implement network infrastructure with the support of other team members
  • Ensure network data is regularly backed up and can be recovered in case of failure.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and policies as well as producing/maintaining network diagrams
  • Provide direct support to end-users experiencing network issues, such as connectivity problems, slow speeds, or access issues
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network outages, connectivity issues, and other network-related problems.
  • Coordinate with other IT staff to solve complex technical issues that may affect the network.
  • Assist users with network setups, including VPN connections, remote work configurations
  • Respond to network alerts and take corrective action to prevent outages.
  • Work closely with IT colleagues, including system administrators, cybersecurity teams, and external vendors, to ensure seamless IT operations.
  • Responds quickly and adequately to network incidents and ensures a fast and effective solution to minimize downtime.
  • Analytic insight, a proactive attitude and to be able to adapt and learn on the fly.
  • Have a proactive attitude and the desire to continuously learn and stay up to date with the latest technologies and solutions.
