This role focuses on ensuring robust, secure, and high-performance communication networks (including OT/industrial networks) that enable seamless integration of BMS, PCS, EMS/SCADA, and other control systems. The specialist will also support customers and EPC contractors through point-to-point testing, verification, troubleshooting, and final handover of network systems.   Key Responsibilities: Network Configuration & Startup • Configure, commission, and startup all network devices, including industrial switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, cellular gateways, and redundant network architectures for utility-scale BESS sites. • Implement and verify network designs (VLANs, routing, segmentation, redundancy, and cybersecurity protocols) in alignment with project specifications and industry standards. • Support initial energization and integration of OT networks with BMS, PCS/inverters, EMS/SCADA, PPC, metering, and grid interconnection systems.   Testing & Verification • Perform comprehensive point-to-point testing, loop checks, and functional validation of all network communications and data flows. • Conduct network performance testing, latency checks, bandwidth verification, failover testing, and cybersecurity assessments. • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues during commissioning, including packet analysis, configuration errors, and integration problems with control systems. • Customer & EPC Support • Serve as the primary network technical point of contact for customers, EPC contractors, utilities, and third-party vendors during commissioning and handover. • Coordinate with stakeholders to confirm network readiness, support remote access setup, and facilitate acceptance testing. • Provide training and documentation to customer operations teams on network architecture, monitoring, and maintenance. • Documentation & Compliance • Prepare and maintain detailed network documentation, including as-built drawings, configuration files, test reports, and handover packages. • Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., IEC 62443, NIST, IEEE, NERC CIP) and project-specific cybersecurity requirements. • Participate in lessons learned sessions and contribute to continuous improvement of network commissioning processes.   Safety & Quality • Adhere to and promote strict safety protocols during field work, including lockout/tagout, PPE, and site-specific safety plans. • Support quality assurance processes and ensure all network activities meet LGES Vertech’s high standards. Qualifications   Education • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Networking, or a related field (or equivalent experience).   Experience • 5+ years of hands-on experience in industrial/OT networking, preferably in utility-scale renewable energy projects (BESS, solar, wind, or substations). • Proven track record supporting commissioning or startup of complex control and communication systems in energy projects. Skills & Knowledge • Strong expertise in configuring industrial network equipment (e.g., Cisco, Hirschmann, Moxa, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or equivalent). • Deep understanding of OT network protocols (Modbus TCP, DNP3, IEC 61850, OPC UA, etc.) and integration with SCADA/EMS/BMS systems. • Proficiency in network troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, ping, traceroute, network analyzers) and cybersecurity best practices for OT environments. • Experience with redundant network designs, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, and secure remote access solutions. • Familiarity with utility-scale BESS components and grid interconnection requirements. • Certifications (Preferred) • CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent networking certifications. • Industrial networking certifications (e.g., Hirschmann, Cisco Industrial, or ISA/IEC 62443). • CompTIA Network+ or Security+. • Other Requirements • Willingness to travel up to 75% to project sites across the US. • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background checks. • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in field environments. Travel * This role follows a hybrid model: ~20% onsite and ~80% remote based on project phase * May require travel to field locations across the U.S. * Must be comfortable in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities across multiple sites
