Location: Sheffield (UK); Tornio or Helsinki (Finland); Avesta (Sweden); Krefeld (Germany); Katowice (Poland); or Vilnius (Lithuania)About the Role: Outokumpu is seeking a Network Specialist (Network Engineer) to strengthen our global IT organization.In this key role, you will support major IT projects worldwide, enhance our network security posture, and ensure stable day-to-day operations across multiple international sites. You’ll collaborate closely with our Network Architect and partners to design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performing network environments. Your Responsibilities: Provide hands-on network support to global IT projects and assist vendors in troubleshooting complex issues. Collaborate with the Network Architect to design and deploy new network solutions and improvements. Manage and validate firewall access requests to ensure compliance with security requirements. Develop and enforce firewall policies and rules controlling inbound and outbound network traffic. Regularly review and optimize firewall configurations in line with security best practices and internal standards. Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures. Your Background & Expertise Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Proven experience supporting enterprise WAN, LAN, and WLAN environments. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Palo Alto Firewall configuration and management. Strong understanding of network protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs). Experience with HP Aruba switches and wireless access points. Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SNMP, Wireshark). Understanding of Azure networking (an advantage). ITIL Foundation certification (minimum requirement). Personal Qualities: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and collaboration abilities in English. Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
