Job Description The Opportunity We have an exciting opportunity opportunity for a Network Steward based in the Kapiti Region. This role is vital in overseeing the condition and performance of the network. You’ll be responsible for ensuring inspections are carried out and accurately recorded, while working collaboratively with customers, partners, third party operators, and key stakeholders to maintain a high standard across the Wellington state highway network. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Monitor physical works for both primary contractor and third-party Contractors. Develop and maintain relationships with local authority’s emergency services, road user groups, local community groups, and other key stakeholders. Investigate complex queries to determine possible root cause of issues, providing solution recommendations where possible or steering towards the relevant SME. The development and supervision of maintenance and renewals works programmes, and the Forward Works Programme, including provided local network knowledge of candidate sites. Work with NZTA planners to assist in achieving compliance of land developments and other works requiring planning approvals. Actively support the Road Safety team to identify and assess opportunities for safety or network improvements, including the development of road safety management strategies. Ensure faults / maintenance items for action are recorded in the Alliance’s systems. Monitor the delivery and quality of works occurring on the network, elevating concerns accordingly. Although this role will involve work across the Kapiti region, it will be based out of our Wellington Central office. About you You’ll demonstrate strong initiative and a proactive mindset, thriving in a dynamic environment while contributing to running a temperamental yet highly performing roading network.
