Employment Type Permanent Closing Date 5 July 2026 11:59pm Job Title Network Technical Specialist – 24x7 Shift Job Summary Job Description This is a fantastic opportunity for an NV1 cleared Network Engineer, with some existing experience, or those eager to launch their career in Network Engineering at Telstra. You’ll gain and expand your hands-on experience supporting Telstra’s Defence customers and networks, learning from real-world challenges and working with experienced professionals. This permanent Defence role is based onsite in Canberra (preferred), Sydney, or Melbourne. You’ll work on a rotating 24x7 shift roster and you are required to work all shifts onsite. Active NV1 clearance is essential, and bonus points for NV2 clearance. Assist with network changes following customer and management processes. Keep accurate records and support service reporting. Join incident calls and provide technical updates. Follow change, incident, and problem management guidelines. Carry out standard operational tasks and maintenance. About you Ideally 2 years hands on experience in Network Engineering. Active NV1 security clearance (mandatory), NV2 preferred. Understanding of data communications, routing, switching, and telecommunications. Familiarity with VLANs, Spanning-Tree, wireless technologies, and WAN/BAN routing protocols (OSPF, BGP). Exposure to Juniper, Cisco, Nortel, or Avaya networking products. ITIL Foundation or Practitioner certification (desirable). Defence or enterprise ICT environment experience (desirable). Candidates must hold a current Defence clearance to be considered. This role will require you to hold and maintain an minimum Australian Government NV1 Security Clearance. Please attach an updated CV for immediate consideration.
