Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Network Technician (Independent Contractor) to join our IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network infrastructure and related hardware/software systems. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, a problem-solving mindset, and a commitment to delivering reliable and secure network services to support business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and other networking equipment
  • Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues
  • Assist in network upgrades, patching, and infrastructure improvements
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, assets, and procedures
  • Provide technical support for LAN, WAN, VPN, and VoIP systems
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure seamless integration of systems and services
  • Enforce network security policies and assist with audits and compliance efforts
  • Respond to service tickets and user inquiries in a timely and professional manner

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s diploma/degree in information technology, Networking, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in a network support or technician role
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco, Ubiquiti, Meraki, or similar network equipment
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools and troubleshooting techniques
  • Extensive knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, and network security best practices
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent are a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Languages: English

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with ConnectWise IT Stack, including but not limited to; CW Manage, Screen Connect, ASIO, Sentinel One, etc.
  • Experience with Auvik Networks’ Tools and Environment
  • Experience with Windows and Linux server environments
  • Knowledge of cloud networking (M365, GWS, AWS)
  • VoIP and unified communications support
  • Familiarity with ITIL or other service management frameworks

Working Conditions

  • Contract, Part-Time position
  • Pay: $60 per Hour
  • Work Location: Hybrid - Remote/In person
  • May require occasional after-hours work or on-call availability
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license (if on-site or client visits are required)
  • Contractor MUST provide own insurance, tools, equipment, etc. (Some equipment will be provided depending on specific work)
