DESCRIPTION
The Department of Neurosciences is one of the largest departments within the UCSD School of Medicine. Its mission is to create synergies and define innovative ideas and programs that transform how our neuroscience community discovers, teaches and provide care. We arecommitted to conducting cutting-edge science, advancing scientific research, and train the next generation of neurologists and researchers. This is achieved by promoting education at all levels and integrating the latest scientific and medical advances into our curriculum.
The Neuroimmunology Research Program focuses on translational and clinical studies aimed at understanding and improve the treatment of disorders, such as multiple sclerosis; optic neuritis; neuromyelitis optica, and other central nervous system autoimmune diseases. Frombiomarker and genetic research to clinical trials, the program offers exciting opportunities to engage in patient-oriented research that bridges science and clinical care.
The Neural Engineering Research Assistant serves as an assistant to the clinical trials research coordinators and Principal Investigators with an emphasis on ongoing research in tracking devices and virtual reality (VR) simulations program. Perform procedures that require technical, scientific knowledge and skills. Major responsibilities include the design and development of study-related software tools or applications, including assisting with coding, debugging, and implementing functionality to support data collection, management, or analysis processes. Assist the research team with communication between multiple parties, conducting visits, assisting with patient interviews and data collection, completing case report forms, and scheduling patient visits. Research duties include maintaining the inventory of study supplies and equipment. Laboratory duties include assisting with the inventory of lab kits, supplies, and the processing and shipping of specimens as needed. Perform other duties will be assigned as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
IF APPLICABLE, LIFE-SUPPORT CERTIFICATIONS (BLS, NRP, ACLS, ETC.) MUST INCLUDE HANDS-ON PRACTICE AND IN-PERSON SKILLS ASSESSMENT; ONLINE-ONLY CERTIFICATION IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
