The technologist is responsible for performing routine, ambulatory, and prolonged EEG studies for patients of all ages in an inpatient setting. This role will support patients in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) as well as patients in other inpatient settings. This role requires adaptability to rapidly changing environments and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The technologist is expected to apply best practices and clinical expertise to tailor studies to each patient’s unique needs. Key responsibilities include accurate patient preparation, high-quality data acquisition, and maintaining a safe testing environment. Competency in neurodiagnostic procedural testing is essential, including electrode application for adult and pediatric EEGs using the standard 10-20 or 10-10 systems. Additional duties include monitoring and maintaining EEG recordings for surgical, adult, and pediatric patients, responding to seizures, troubleshooting equipment, assisting with SPECT injections, and providing shift reports on relevant patient information.
