Description

The Neurological Rehabilitation Assistant supports healthcare professionals in delivering rehabilitation services to patients with neurological conditions such as stroke, brain injuries, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s disease. The role involves assisting in therapy sessions, monitoring patient progress, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment for recovery.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care, or equivalent qualification in rehabilitation or physiotherapy assistance.
  • Experience: Prior experience in a rehabilitation, therapy, or healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach.
  • Good observational and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of neurological conditions and rehabilitation techniques.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with patients with neurological conditions.
  • Training in manual handling and therapeutic techniques.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
Responsibilities
  • Assist physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists in implementing rehabilitation programs.
  • Support patients with exercises and mobility activities to improve movement and function.
  • Provide hands-on assistance with daily living activities as part of the therapy plan.
  • Monitor patient progress and report any changes to the healthcare team.
  • Encourage and motivate patients to participate in therapy sessions.
  • Prepare treatment areas and equipment before and after sessions.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient activities and progress.
  • Ensure patients’ safety and well-being during therapy sessions.
  • Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines to prevent injuries or complications.
