Responsibilities

The Cognitive, Dementia and Memory Service (CDAMS) offers a specialist multidisciplinary diagnostic service for people with early progressive changes to cognition, speech and language, function and / or behaviour. Our focus is on timely diagnosis where an expert, detailed multidisciplinary team assessment is required.
The Senior Neuropsychologist will contribute to team based multidisciplinary assessments and care planning which will involve client interviews, carer interviews and client cognitive screening assessments. When indicated, specific diagnostic Neuropsychological assessments will also be completed. The clinician will use their expertise to educate the team, client and carers regarding diagnosis and management of changes in cognition, mood and behaviour. In addition to clinical duties, the Grade 3 Neuropsychologist supervises grade 2 neuropsychologists on the team, neuropsychology students and registrars, provides education to rotating geriatric medicine registrars, participates in quality improvement initiatives, and contributes to research projects within the service.
The position plays a key role in maintaining high standards of clinical care and supporting the ongoing development of the CDAMS clinic in accordance with Australian Dementia Network Memory Clinic Guidelines and CDAMS best practice guidelines. They work closely with the CDAMS Coordinator in managing waitlists for Neuropsychology assessments and new client assessments. As a senior member of the team, completion of some overall service management and operational tasks may be required.
