The Role Fragrance plays an important role in influencing our thoughts and feelings, often without us realizing. In order to develop fragrances which positively modulate emotional and perceptual responses in the mind of a consumer, it is important to be able to measure and understand the effects that fragrance has on the human brain and on consumers’ behavior and well-being. We have a one-year internship opportunity, commencing anytime in Summer 2026, within the Fragrance S&T Department based within the Health & Well-Being Centre of Excellence in Ashford, Kent. The Candidate Givaudan is seeking a dynamic individual to join its Neuroscience Research team at the Health & Well-Being Centre of Excellence in Ashford, Kent. In this collaborative role, the successful candidate will play a key part in transforming research requirements into technological solutions while providing neuroscientific expertise throughout the project lifecycle. Their work will focus on exploring the relationships between odours, olfactory perception, emotions, and overall well-being. They will engage in research projects that involve investigating consumer responses and behaviours utilising psychophysical, cognitive, behavioural, and state-of-the-art physiological and neuroimaging methodologies. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative research in the fields of odours, emotion, and behaviour. Required BSc/MSc in Neuroscience/Psychology/Cognitive Science/Consumer Science or related disciplines Project management skills ability to lead a project with guidance Ability to work independently is essential Ability to problem-solve, learn quickly Ability to proficiently extract and summarize information from scientific papers Ability to report clearly, quickly and accurately Ability to build and maintain interpersonal and professional relationships Contribute to ideas to on-going projects Have excellent team working and (written/spoken) communication skills Be numerate and computer literate (knowledge of/exposure to Matlab and/or Python software would be advantageous) Be self-motivated Experience with fragrance industry is desirable but not essential Givaudan offers a competitive salary and a supportive, friendly working environment.
