"Performs all aspects of Neurodiagnostic testing procedures to assess the funtional integrity of the peripeheral and/or central nervous system during vascular, orthopedic, and neurosurgical operative procedures in accordance with Standards of Practice." Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position. Works independently utilizing a variety of sophisticated instruments and equipment. Demonstrates good judgment and decision making in the performance of clinical neurophysiologic procedures Responsible for patient hook-ups, daily maintenance of electrodes, daily archiving of patient data. Preparing data for physician review. Responsible for equipment maintenance. Responsible for cross-training and staff education of EEG Technologists. Responsible for supply inventory. Participates on an on-call schedule to provide emergency diagnostic testing or monitoring after hours (weekends and holidays). Readily accommodates changes in patient scheduling as needed such as add on "STAT" studies Receives directives by cell phone/pager. Perform and process non-invasive neuro-diagnostic procedures including EEG, Evoked Potentials, Surgical Monitoring, Transcranial Doppler- prepares patient and operates various types of equipment to obtain appropriate data for physician interpretation and/or reporting functions. Assist in developing standard operating procedures and reporting forms. Assists in training of associates and students. Maintains knowledge of current diagnostic techniques and procedures. (10 ACE credits per year) Assist in equipment evaluation and selection as needed. Performs additional job related duties as requested (stock supplies, maintain files, equipment and work area). Job Requirements General Requirements • Registration by ABRET in EEG • BCSL/CPR Work Experience Minimum of (1) one year of documented experience in EEG/IOM. Documented competency in all modalities of intraoperative monitoring (Preferred) Education • High school diploma or GED. • Graduate of an accredited neuroscience/electroneurodiagnostic program or trained as an Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist. Specialized Knowledge and Skills • Demonstrate ability to learn a variety of diagnostic procedures and understand complex equipment. • Demonstrate sound communication skill. • Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational safety and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients services related to the principle duties and responsibilities of the position. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training or previous experience. • Skilled in computer use.
