Description
About the team  Our Argos Commercial & Digital team plays a key role in delivering innovative, customer-focused propositions within the Services & Propositions division. The New Business team is responsible for identifying, launching and scaling new category opportunities, driving profitable growth through a mix of insight, strong supplier partnerships and compelling customer ranges. Working closely with cross-functional teams including Digital, Marketing, Merchandising and Operations, you’ll help shape new propositions that support our Next Level Sainsbury’s strategy.    More about the role  As a New Business Buyer, you will be responsible for translating and delivering the SDF New Business category strategy to achieve agreed KPIs including sales, margin, stock, availability, digital performance and customer satisfaction. You will own specific new business ranges, developing six-month range strategies, managing end-to-end buying activity and ensuring a clear, customer-led range architecture. This includes forecasting, range selection, pricing strategy and supplier income management.  You will build and manage strong supplier relationships, negotiating commercial terms and funding agreements to maximise category performance. You will collaborate closely with Merchandising, Digital and Marketing teams to deliver trading and promotional plans, using market, customer and competitor insight to optimise performance. Alongside this, you will support the New Business Manager in shaping category direction, provide guidance to junior team members and ensure all activity is delivered in line with legal and compliance requirements.    More about you  You bring strong commercial awareness and experience within a buying or trading environment, ideally within a multi-channel or digital retail setting. You understand how to translate strategy into commercial outcomes and are confident managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. You are numerically confident and able to interpret multiple data sources to inform decisions and identify opportunities to improve performance.  You are a confident communicator who can build effective relationships with stakeholders and suppliers at all levels, influencing decisions and driving alignment to deliver results. You demonstrate accountability, resilience and the ability to work at pace, while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring compliance with relevant governance, including competition law and ethical standards.    Essential criteria  * Experience managing product ranges or categories, including range planning, pricing and supplier management  * Track record of delivering against commercial KPIs such as sales, margin, stock or availability  * Ability to analyse and interpret data from multiple sources to inform trading decisions and forecasts  * Experience negotiating commercial terms or supplier funding agreements aligned to business objectives  * Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver trading, promotional or category plans    #LI-MB1
