Description AO Multispecialty Clinic is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented New Patient Referral Coordinator to support our growing specialty practices in Oncology, Hematology, Urology, Rheumatology, Plastic Surgery, and Radiation Oncology. This role is essential to ensuring a seamless experience for new patients from the time of referral through their first appointment. The ideal candidate is compassionate, efficient, and thrives in a fast-paced medical environment. Position Summary The New Patient Referral Coordinator is responsible for managing incoming referrals, verifying documentation and insurance requirements, coordinating appointments, and serving as the primary point of contact for new patients entering our specialty services. Key Responsibilities Receive and process incoming referrals from providers and external facilities Communicate with referring offices to obtain missing records or required information Coordinate and schedule new patient appointments across multiple specialty departments Ensure timely triage of urgent oncology and specialty referrals Enter and maintain accurate patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR) system Provide clear communication to patients regarding appointment details, preparation instructions, and required documentation Collaborate with clinical teams to prioritize scheduling based on medical necessity Requirements Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree preferred Minimum 1–2 years of medical office or referral coordination experience preferred Experience in specialty care Knowledge of ICD-10 preferred Strong organizational and time-management skills Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment EMR experience required Skills & Competencies Attention to detail Professional and compassionate communication Ability to handle sensitive medical information with confidentiality Problem-solving mindset Team-oriented approach If you’re looking for a fulfilling career in a supportive and innovative healthcare setting, AO Multispecialty Clinic is the place for you.
