Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The New to Industry Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and ongoing management of Whitehaven Coal’s Apprenticeship and Traineeship programs, as well as providing support to key stakeholders. This role works closely with industry professionals, and internal leaders to ensure effective delivery and alignment of the WHC Apprentice and Trainee Program with company goals and industry standards. The role ensures compliance with all relevant regulations while also helping to shape the future workforce of Whitehaven Coal. We want this role to be responsible for developing a top rated, industry renowned program at Whitehaven.
To be successful in this position, you will have a thorough understanding of mining and the educational requirements of Apprenticeships & Traineeships and any relevant QLD legislative requirements pertaining to these positions.
This role is a Monday to Friday position.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Through visible leadership, demonstrate and instil an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable design, improvement, and development of Apprentice & Trainee Programs in collaboration with industry experts that meets the needs of Apprentices, Trainees, and the Company.
  • Manage and control the governance of the Apprenticeship and Traineeship programs across QLD.
  • Review opportunities for Continuous Improvement across the Apprentice and Trainee programs in line with company requirements and compliance with Industry Standards and Regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, implement and maintain the recruitment process for new apprentices, including outreach, interviews, and selection.
  • Manage and further develop the onboarding process, ensuring all stakeholders understand their roles, responsibilities, and expectations and communicate the expectations of the Apprentices and Trainees.
  • Monitor the progress of Apprentices and Trainees through regular check-ins and performance evaluations.
  • Influence through visible leadership with Apprentices and Trainees through providing clarity around requirements and effective support.
  • Lead improvement initiatives and role model change to ensure transformations are delivered successfully aligned with strategy.
  • Establish goals and targets consistent with Apprentices and Trainees programs.
  • Develop and implement the systems to generate sufficient skillsets to sustain the current business and future growth.
  • Address any issues or concerns that arise during the programs operation and actively facilitate solutions.
