Description
The NewForce Insights Team Instructor/Mentor supports Generation West Virginia’s NewForce Data Analytics training program by providing hands-on instruction, project guidance, and individualized coaching to emerging data professionals. This contract position ensures students gain the technical, professional, and problem-solving skills required for successful entry into data analytics career pathways. Contract Terms Up to 200 hours total $30/hour Contract period to align with the current NewForce cohort schedule Hours and scope coordinated with the NewForce Instructional Lead Key Responsibilities Deliver instruction in core data analytics concepts, such as: Data cleaning and exploration SQL and relational databases Python for data analysis Data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) Applied statistical reasoning Lead small-group project teams (“Insights Teams”) to complete real-world data challenges. Mentor students through: One-on-one check-ins Workplace readiness skill-building Feedback on professional deliverables including reports, dashboards, and presentations Collaborate with the instructional team to: Evaluate student performance and growth Adapt curriculum to meet learner needs Facilitate industry engagement and portfolio development Support career placement efforts by reinforcing professional expectations, accountability, and agile team collaboration. Qualifications Demonstrated experience in data analytics or related field (business intelligence, applied research, software development, etc.). Proficiency in SQL, Python, and common BI tools. Experience teaching, mentoring, or guiding learners of diverse backgrounds. Strong communication skills and ability to foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.
