Description
* Direct live and pre-recorded newscasts using production switchers, graphics systems, and automation tools. * Collaborate with producers, anchors, technical crew, and newsroom staff to execute the editorial vision of each newscast. * Operate and troubleshoot control room equipment including switchers, audio boards, graphics systems, and video servers. * Maintain the visual and technical quality of the broadcast, ensuring all elements are timed and executed correctly. * Attend pre-show meetings and provide direction to studio and control room staff. * Implement creative transitions, camera shots, and effects to enhance storytelling. * Respond quickly to breaking news and last-minute changes with professionalism and precision. * Ensure compliance with FCC regulations and station policies. Qualifications * Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred. * 2+ years of experience directing newscasts in a professional broadcast environment. * Proficiency with production automation systems (e.g., Ross OverDrive, Grass Valley Ignite, or similar). * Strong understanding of studio and control room operations. * Excellent organizational and time-management skills. * Ability to communicate effectively under tight deadlines. * Flexibility to work any assigned shift including days, nights, weekends, holidays; and extended hours.
