Description NEXT GEN WORSHIP INTERN (HSM) REPORTS TO: NEXT GEN PASTOR RELATES CLOSELY WITH: NEXT GEN WORSHIP COORDINATOR, STUDENT MINISTRY PASTORS CLASSIFICATION: PART TIME//5 HOURS PAY: $18.45/HR WestGate Church is passionate about raising up new leaders to be and to make disciples of Jesus. As a Ministry Intern, you will grow in your ability to do ministry within the context of Worship and Production Arts. Our internships are designed to cultivate young leaders providing them training, experience and discipleship. This 3 month long commitment will provide you with a perspective of vocational ministry, specifically learning to manage an effective Worship Ministry program. As an intern you’ll support worship ministries events across all congregations, each designed to help those who gather say YES to Jesus and passionately follow Him. This part-time role (Sunday - Thursday) may require occasional work on Fridays and Saturdays as well as evening hours. Requirements PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS Passionate Jesus follower, actively learning and living the way of Jesus: loving God, neighbor, and one another. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS Experience in worship leading and/or instrumentalist in worship band, including ability to read music or chord charts. Positive, professional, self-starter with the ability to organize, adjust, and prioritize responsibilities and projects with minimal direction. Maintains a high level of confidentiality, handling situations with discretion, diplomacy, and tact. Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously with excellent time management and attention to detail. Able to assist in leading rehearsals. Some computer skills i.e. Google Apps, Planning Center, Garage Band, ProPresenter Superior communication skills written and verbal PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Meet weekly with HSM Worship Production Team. Assist in planning worship sets and worship events for students. Chart songs for worship. Mid week prep, including loading songs into ProPresenter as assigned. Lead worship for Sunday HSM service. Other duties as assigned. KEY LEARNING OBJECTIVES Development of vocal technique and music theory. Development of a philosophy of worship: a biblical call to worship, how Christians worship, and how to lead a congregation into the heart of worship. Understand how to balance human planning of a worship service and the Holy Spirit moving during a worship service. Learn techniques for speaking between worship songs. Learn how to schedule and plan in Planning Center Service (PCO). Learn how to load songs in ProPresenter. Learn how worship leaders record PCO resources (such as background vocals and isolated instrumentals). Learn to listen for areas of improvement during worship practices and effectively communicate ways for the band to improve. Grow in communication skills, especially when communicating in less-than-comfortable situations. Responsibilities
