Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for Front Desk duties during overnight shifts, including but not limited to, credit and debit card balancing, reconciliations, bucket checks, managing guest experiences, and reports generation.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Providing exceptional customer service by going an extra mile for our guests
  • Accurate billing, routing and tallying individual accounts
  • Checking guests in/out of hotel
  • Convert reservations via phone and email
  • Answering switchboard
  • Completing shift checklists
  • Handle escalated guest issues
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
  • Act as the Manager on Duty on a nightly basis
  • Cash handling
  • Balance credit and debit cards transactions;
  • Conduct rooms audit and verification of rate over-rides;
  • Balance the preliminary audit
  • Reset and backup the PMS system;
  • Prepare Front Desk and Reconciliation report;
  • Reconcile daily manual postings and adjustments;
  • Complete the Night Audit Procedures.
  • Follow cash handling and posting procedures pertaining to guest folio charges, including corrections and adjustments;
  • Accountable for any shortages and overages; Stay up-to-date on rooms inventory, rates, packages, promotions and discounts;
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of rooms types, features, and location;
  • Develop a thorough understanding of reservations, including making, cancelling and guaranteeing reservations;
  • Notify Housekeeping of late departures, early arrivals, special requests and day rooms;
  • Ensure all wake-up calls have been entered accurately. Set up wake-up call when requested by guest;
  • Read and initial the log book and bulletin board daily to keep updated on all current information;
  • Check regularly with security staff to ensure smooth and safe operation of the hotel;
  • Follow safety / emergency procedures. Act as the hotel’s emergency coordinator when on duty;* Maintain a professional personal appearance at all times;
  • Maintain the orderliness and cleanliness of the Lobby, Front Desk, and Back Office area;
  • Perform other related duties as required by the front office manager.
  • Handle unexpected emergency situations with limited supervision, such as fire alarm, black out, systems and network outages.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • MUST be able to consistently perform overnight shifts (11pm to 7am) each week with weekend availability. Some afternoon shifts might be required when necessary.
  • Is an evening person who can stay cheerful, professional and positive when working night shifts
  • *Knowledge of Opera PMS a definite asset
  • Has a passion for providing exceptional guest service
  • Flexible and available to work weekends.* possesses good common sense, with honesty and integrity.
  • Able to handle escalated customer complaints and emergency situation with poise and confidence.
  • Post secondary education in Tourism/Hospitality programs an asset.
  • Excellent customer service skills and attitude
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work supervised or unsupervised
  • Able to work as a team
  • Previous front desk experience an asset
  • Excellent command of the English language, verbal and written. Second language an asset.
