GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

A night auditor has two main responsibilities: provide a great guest experience for guests during the overnight hours and balance financial reports from the previous day’s activities for financial reporting and reconciling.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma
  • Computer literacy, math skills, and knowledge of word processing software
  • Keen attention to detail and motivation to work night shifts
  • Guest service experience

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to identify errors in records
  • Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively
  • Ability to multitask
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven experience as a Night Auditor or in a similar role, preferably in the hospitality industry is considered an asset
  • Certificate or diploma in hospitality is considered an asset

Responsibilities
  • Maintain an inventory of vacancies, reservations and room assignments
  • Reconcile the days transactions
  • Provide next day reports for the hotel
  • Register arriving guests and assign rooms
  • Answer enquiries regarding hotel services and registration by letter, by telephone and in person
  • Compile and check daily record sheets, guest accounts, receipts and vouchers using computerized or manual systems
  • Present statements of charges to departing guests and receive payment
  • Process group arrivals and departures
  • Take, cancel and change room reservations
  • Provide information on hotel facilities and services
  • Provide general information about points of interest in the area
  • Enforce policies and procedures regarding persons on property, reporting any concerns to hotel management
  • Liaise and communicate positively with guests, colleagues, and vendors
  • Comply with company and departmental rules and regulations
  • Process guests’ departures, calculate charges and receive payments
  • Balance cash and complete balance sheets, cash reports and related forms
  • Follow emergency and safety procedures
  • Clerical duties (i.e. faxing, filing, photocopying)
  • Answer telephone and relay telephone calls and messages
  • Handle wake-up calls
  • Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties
  • Provide customer service
  • Follow all necessary health and safety protocols
  • Address complaints, glitches and/or requests in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring that all are resolved or addressed with the proper manager
  • Other duties as required
