Description

DUDLEY

Our client, a public transport company, is seeking for a Bus Technician to join their team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for carrying out maintenance, repairs, and inspections on buses. This includes diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults, performing scheduled maintenance, and ensuring the buses meet safety standards. The role requires a hands-on approach to ensure buses are in optimal condition for public transportation.
Role: Bus Technician
Salary: £41,600 per annum
Hours: Night Shifts, 5 days over 7; from 10pm- 6:30 am; 40 hrs per week
Location: Dudley

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A relevant qualification in vehicle maintenance or mechanical engineering (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • Additional certifications in bus or coach maintenance are highly desirable.
  • Full driver’s license (Category D or relevant) may be required in some cases.
  • Previous experience working as a Bus Technician or similar role, particularly in the maintenance of commercial vehicles.
  • Experience with diagnostic tools and technology used in bus maintenance.
  • Experience in a fast-paced workshop environment, handling multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proven experience as a Bus Technician, Mechanic, or in a similar role working on large vehicles (preferably buses or coaches).
Responsibilities
  • Diagnose faults with the mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems of the buses, using diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Carry out repairs on faulty systems or components, including engines, transmissions, suspension, brakes, and electrical systems.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment to identify issues within electrical and mechanical systems of buses.
  • Conduct safety checks to ensure buses are compliant with legal and safety regulations, including emissions, braking, lighting, and electrical systems.
  • Identify and troubleshoot problems reported by bus drivers or noticed during regular inspections.
  • Perform emergency repairs when necessary, ensuring minimal downtime for the bus fleet.
