To provide night duty cover in the home and to undertake certain domestic duties which can be performed during the night hours.

Principal Responsibilities

• to carry out a regular check on residents at intervals determined by the manager of the home and with due regard for residents privacy and dignity.
• to carry out regular checks on the building at intervals determined by the manager of the home with special reference to fire prevention and security.
• to answer emergency bells or calls from residents, to assess the situation, to deal with the resident seeking help and to summon the senior member of staff who is on call wherever necessary.
• to assist residents who need help or reassurance.
• to join with the day care staff in preparing residents for bed or assisting them in the morning as directed.
• in the time available between attending to residents undertake domestic duties primarily in the fields of laundry ironing, food preparation, table laying dusting cleaning as directed by the manager of the home.
• to maintain accurate notes and records in residents notes and to handover information to day staff that is relevant to the ongoing care of individual residents
• such other duties as may reasonably be required,.
• escorting residents if necessary to hospital in an emergency situation
• to stay awake through out their shift at all times.
