DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Customer Service & Communication * Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness, emphasizing fast and friendly service. * Assist customers by making product suggestions. * Engage in suggestive selling through telephone, in‑store intercom announcements, and one‑on‑one customer interaction. * Answer and respond to incoming calls appropriately. * Receive and resolve customer complaints, escalating to the Store Director as needed. Grocery Operations & Merchandising * Assist with planning nightly operations and monitor production processes according to company procedures and profitability goals. * Build grocery displays, rotate product, and remove outdated or spoiled items. * Ensure shelves are correctly priced, fully stocked, clean, and properly maintained. * Maintain overall cleanliness and organization of the work area and department. * Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays. * Assist with coordinating grocery sales promotions. * Follow and maintain all department standards and requirements. * Ensure proper code dating procedures are enforced for all products in the department. Supervision & Employee Support * Monitor employee productivity and performance. * Possess specific knowledge of duties performed by all department employees, including Opening/Closing, Dairy, and Frozen. * Supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees. * Train staff on store policies, sales techniques, and record‑keeping procedures. * Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook. Inventory, Reclamation & Stock Management * Control inventory to maintain adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness according to division directives. * Stock and rotate products to ensure freshness and availability. * Supervise processing of reclamation and maintain organized, in‑stock conditions in the back room and all Grocery Department areas. * Assist with physical inventory conducted every six months. * Control shrink and manage costs through proper product handling and rotation. Receiving, Documentation & Compliance * Perform receiving duties including: * Breaking down loads * Verifying orders using invoices * Inspecting product quality * Reporting shortages * Stocking and rotating product * Follow product temperature and storage guidelines and adhere to proper packaging techniques. * Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records. * Accurately complete and monitor daily log sheets, sales and labor reports, and other required paperwork. * Ensure proper temperature levels for all products. * Comply with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, Company policies, and code dating requirements. Equipment Operation * Safely use and operate equipment including pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machines. Pay Transparency: Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay*, PTO/Vacation pay*, paid holidays*, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility).  Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans.
