GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Dispatcher is responsible for assisting the Driver Manager in performing
administrative functions, communicating with Drivers, monitoring of Driver activities,
completing tasks associated with the successful completion of operational activities,
coordinating break messages, processing information, and monitoring high priority messages and taking appropriate actions.
Skill(s): A successful Dispatcher must possess:
· Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
· People skills to communicate professionally with drivers and others.
· Proficiency in mathematical skills
· Knowledge of U.S. geography
· Organizational skills
· The ability to multi-task
· Analytical and problem-solving skills, including being able to quickly assess a situation, identify feasible solutions, and make a sound decision to resolve the situation.
· A basic understanding of Class 8 motor vehicle equipment.
· The Dispatcher must also be able to lead drivers to follow DOT regulations / Hours of Service
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year experience in related positions is normally required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Dispatcher:
1. Is responsible for supporting the activities of the Driver Manager by coordinating break messages, maintaining the flow of information, monitoring high priority messages, and reacting to high priority messages as appropriate.
2. Must work with each Driver Manager to achieve optimal business results in:
a) Customer Service
b) Utilization Productivity
c) Driver Compensation (Weekly Earnings)
d) Appropriate Home Time
e) Key Operating Costs (e.g. fuel, maintenance, accidents, out of route miles)
3. Assists the Driver Manager in immediately and professionally solving all business problems for each driver.
4. Is responsible for accurate timely and complete movements, daily driver updates, and proper formation in the computer. These items are critical to ensure that we have an effective dispatch system.
5. Ensures complete compliance with all Federal, State, and Local Laws, Regulations, Directives and Policies, Procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of sexual harassment and all other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.
6. Fully cooperates with, participates in and supports the administration and adherence to all Internal Policies, Procedures and practices. The Driver Manager is responsible to ensure their drivers comply with all of the above requirements.
