Job Description: Night Parts Counter Salesperson Department: Parts Reports To: Parts Manager Schedule: Evening Shift – 3 p.m. to 12 a.m.- Monday - Friday Position Summary The Night Parts Counter Salesperson is responsible for assisting service technicians, shop personnel, and walk-in or phone customers with heavy-duty truck and trailer parts needs during evening hours. This role ensures timely and accurate parts lookup, sales, and distribution to support efficient repair operations and minimize downtime for customers. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Provide fast, accurate parts support to service technicians, mobile service teams, and retail customers during night shift operations Research and identify correct parts using manufacturer catalogs, parts systems, and VIN lookups Process parts sales transactions, including invoices, work orders, and internal repair orders Pull, stage, and deliver parts to service bays in a timely manner Answer incoming calls and assist customers with parts inquiries, pricing, availability, and ordering Maintain accurate inventory levels by properly receiving, binning, and recording parts Monitor and communicate low stock or backorder situations to management Assist with core returns, warranty parts processing, and vendor returns as needed Ensure parts department organization, cleanliness, and safety compliance Work closely with service advisors and technicians to prioritize urgent repairs Handle after-hours emergency parts requests with a sense of urgency and professionalism ________________________________________ Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum 1–3 years of parts counter experience preferred (heavy-duty truck, trailer, or automotive industry) Strong knowledge of Class 6–8 truck and trailer parts is highly desirable Experience with parts lookup systems (e.g., Dealer Management Systems, OEM catalogs) Basic computer skills and ability to learn dealership software systems Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during night hours Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills ________________________________________ Requirements Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching Comfortable working in a warehouse/shop environment ________________________________________ Work Environment Primarily indoor parts department and shop environment Exposure to noise, dust, and shop conditions Evening shift, including potential weekends or on-call duty ________________________________________ Key Competencies Sense of urgency and responsiveness Problem-solving and parts research ability Reliability and strong attendance Team collaboration with service department Customer-focused mindset ________________________________________
