We’re looking for a dedicated and reliable Night Porter to join our team at The Marcliffe. This key role supports the overnight operations of our five-star property, ensuring a welcoming environment, safety, and excellent service for our guests throughout the night.
This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a professional, close-knit team in one of Scotland’s most prestigious hotel settings. The role reports to the Night Manager.

ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Customer service focused with a warm and professional manner
  • Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently overnight
  • Well-presented, with excellent communication skills
  • Physically fit and able to remain on your feet for extended periods
  • Strong on attention to detail, organisation, and timekeeping
  • Flexible, calm under pressure, and confident making decisions
  • Experience in a similar role is desirable, but not essential

Additional desirable qualifications include:

  • First Aid, Health & Safety, Fire Warden certification
  • Manual handling experience for event room set-up
Responsibilities

As Night Porter, your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the safety, welfare, and comfort of all guests overnight
  • Carrying out regular floor walks, fire exit checks, car park patrols, and public area inspections
  • Supporting late-night guest needs, including bar service and room service for residents
  • Assisting with set-up and servicing of event rooms and housekeeping duties
  • Handling basic reception tasks such as answering calls and ensuring accurate billing
  • Monitoring hotel security and reporting any irregularities or safety concerns
  • Maintaining clear corridors and public areas overnight
  • Supporting the closure of the bar and escorting guests to rooms if required
  • Following cash handling and safe procedures in line with hotel policy
  • Responding promptly and professionally to guest enquiries
