Description

Overview
Little Fish is looking for night prep chefs to work in our Sushi Production Kitchen. There is the possibility of day shifts too subject to availability.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to work in a kitchen alongside Michelin-trained, multi-award winning Head Chef and Co-Founder, Neil Witney. Neil has set up and run some of the UK’s most successful pan-Asian restaurants so why not join us and learn from the master?
If you like the idea of being part of a dynamic start-up that’s on a mission to bring exceptional sushi and pan-Asian cuisine to food lovers in rural communities, this could be the role for you.
Responsibilities and Duties
This will be a varied role and we are looking for people who are willing to be flexible and get involved in all areas of the running of our kitchen. As a start-up, we value attitude above all else.

Responsibilities and duties will depend on experience level and may include but are not limited to those below. This role will primarily involve prep work and sushi rolling.

  • Washing, peeling, and preparing food ingredients
  • Using equipment such as mixers, special knives, and cutters
  • Reviewing kitchen inventory and determining what items are needed
  • Unloading fresh supplies and organising the stockroom
  • Checking sell-by dates and rotating food stock
  • Cleaning kitchen appliances, ovens, dishes, and pans
  • Observing cooking times and correct temperatures
  • Preparation of high quality sushi and other pan-Asian dishes.

We are looking for people who want to grow and learn with the business and full training will be provided.
Qualifications and Skills
The right attitude is what we value most. No formal experience is required, and full training will be provided though experience of working in a kitchen is preferred.

Some skills would be a benefit but not required:

  • Sushi making or good knife skills
  • Previous kitchen work experience
  • Sound knowledge of food safety regulations
  • An eye for detail

Required attributes are:

  • Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Time management and organisational skills

All applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
Location and Hours
Our kitchen is in Liphook, Hampshire. This is a night chef role starting between 0100 and 0300 and finishing between 1000 and 1100. We have hours available from Thursday to Saturday. These days and hours are subject to review. There is the opportunity to pick up day shifts too for the right candidate.
