Description PURPOSE: The Sandblaster is responsible for preparing metal components through abrasive blasting, maintaining equipment, and ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards in a fast-paced industrial environment. CRITICAL FUNCTIONS: · Clean hard metal surfaces by removing dirt, grease, oils, rust, scale, and coatings to achieve required surface profiles. · Set up, load, and operate blast machines, pressure pots, hoses, and blasting cabinets according to production requirements. · Monitor pressure levels, replace worn nozzles, troubleshoot equipment issues, and perform routine preventative maintenance on blasting tools and machinery. · Strictly follow all safety protocols, including the use of respirators, supplied-air hoods, heavy-duty protective suits, gloves, and hearing protection. · Inspect parts before and after blasting to ensure proper cleanliness, profile, and adherence to customer or internal specifications. · Load, monitor, and maintain abrasive media; identify contamination or degradation and replace as needed. · Record job details, part counts, and any equipment or quality issues encountered. · Coordinate with welders, machinists, and finishing teams to support efficient workflow and meet production deadlines. Requirements · Minimum 1 year of industrial sandblasting, abrasive blasting, or metal surface preparation experience. · Ability to operate, adjust, and troubleshoot blasting equipment and air systems. · Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, work in confined blasting areas, and wear full PPE including respirators. · Strong focus on quality, consistency, and meeting surface profile specifications. · Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following all OSHA and company safety standards.
