Description This position supports the nightshift manufacturing team by coordinating improvement efforts, training employees, removing bottlenecks, and partnering with Manufacturing Managers to increase output and throughput. It ensures all vessel fabrication work meets ASME and/or ANSI Pressure Vessel Codes and upholds GasTech quality standards. The role provides strong technical guidance and leadership for all nightshift vessel operations, ensuring production goals are met within scheduled time and labor targets. The overall goal is to build and maintain the most respected nightshift process-equipment welding team in the industry and for the clients we serve. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Support the Manufacturing Manager during the Planning and Organizational development of the night shift department workforce. Communicate written and or verbal job status, employee performance, quality status, etc. to the Manufacturing Manager daily. Carry out and follow through on instructions communicated to you from the Manufacturing Manager. Ensure job, space, tooling, and equipment efficiencies are in place and standardized to maximize throughput. Ensure proper welding consumables are purchased, available and adequately marked and stored. Ensure personnel are properly qualified to GasTech Weld Procedure Specifications. Ensure personnel are “in-procedure” when welding, as required by customer order. Ensure department-specific employee training programs are implemented and followed. Ensure personnel are properly trained to the new process improvements and are adhering to the change. Seek and implement cost reduction programs as it relates to variable spending such as consumables and overtime. Implement and direct workshop Health and Safety programs and requirements. Ensure proper, professional, and consistent housekeeping. Perform lead elements of the Vessel Fitter and Vessel Welder position. Prepare, stage, and assist in implementing job flow through the Department. Identify maintenance issues, implement Total Productive Plans, and ensure their completion on all welding equipment. Communicate effectively with Employees and Managers. Teach closed loop corrective action process, partnering with employees and management to eliminate Quality incidents. Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: High school diploma or GED is required. Strong leadership abilities and technical knowledge in the fitting and welding of pressure vessels and equipment are required. A minimum of 10 years’ experience in welding and fabrication, 5 of which is in a Code welding facility is required. An ability to read and understand all engineering documentation is required. Experience in reading and interpreting NDE results is also preferred but not required A demonstrable knowledge in all ASME and ANSI Code is required. The ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality is required. Knowledge in all oxy-fuel, plasma cutting, and arc-gouging operations is preferred but not required. A CWI certificate is preferred but not required. The ability to remain organized with a keen attention to detail in a fast-paced environment is required. The ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines utilizing excellent time management skills is required. Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal and conflict resolution skills are required. Higher vocational welding background is preferred but not required. Demonstrated basic proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office, is required. Ability to accurately prepare and communicate shift reports in written or typed form. Requires the ability to log into computer systems, navigate electronic files, retrieve drawings, and print documents as needed, is required. Experience in an ISO 9001environment is preferred but not required.
