Night Shift Switcher Operator POSITION SUMMARY As a Night Shift Switcher Operator you are essential to the daily operations of Zip Xpress. In this role you will practice safe operation of class A vehicles on private and public roadways, strategically move customer and partner trailers to and from warehouses, and work to serve as an example of Zip Xpress’ culture.  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Follow instructions/guidance of upper management. * Serve as a great example of the Zip Culture by understanding, and consistently following, and maintaining the policies and procedures of Zip Xpress. * Must demonstrate being discrete, prompt, and professional. * Adhering to guidelines on safe freight placement and securement. * Safely operating a commercial vehicle on public and private roadways. * Traveling to local area customer accounts and picking up loaded and dropping off empty trailers. * Maneuvering company trailers and partner carrier trailers in the yard. * Backing trailers to bay doors and utilizing a hi-lo to stage product on the warehouse floor. * Fueling trucks and trailer reefer units, scaling trailers to ensure proper weight distribution and tonnage. * Unloading load-bars, blankets, and debris from within trailers, sweeping trailers out and ensuring they are clean and ready to be loaded outbound. * Verifying adherence with DOT guidelines for weight distribution and limitations. * Organizing and cleaning used workplaces at the end of each shift. * Any other task as requested by management.  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Must be able to support the Zip Xpress culture with a focus on teamwork and a commitment to service * Verbal and written communication skills * Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment * US Citizenship required PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience with Transportation and Logistics  * Knowledge of loading and unloading tractor-trailer best practices * Knowledge of load securement best practices * Valid CDL-A and DOT medical card * At least 2 years of CDL-A tractor-trailer experience  COMMUNICATION * Effectively and regularly communicate with the Zip Xpress Operations Manager and dispatching staff. * Support Zip Xpress’ values, principles, vision, and mission.  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Lift up to 50lbs frequently to occasionally * Stand/walk/sit for up to 12 hours per day  * Bend and Twist frequently * Reach/work above shoulders frequently * Fine manipulations frequently * Gross manipulation frequently * Push/pull frequently PAY RATE & SCHEDULE $25 per hour starting wage Monday through Friday workweek, alternate schedule as requested. Shifts typically start at 5pm WORK ENVIRONMENT Typical warehouse environments and public & private roadway usage  TRAVEL This position does not require additional travel outside of the designated operating area for normal duties  POSITION TYPE This is a full-time non-exempt position  RELOCATION Relocation expenses are not provided, and must be able to commute to our Holland, Michigan location on a regularly scheduled basis.  HIRING PREFERENCE Zip Xpress is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
