PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Engineering, Sound Engineering, Physics (Noise), or a related scientific or engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in Noise & Vibration consulting in Ontario.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Ontario Regulation 419/05 and NPC-300, including their applications.
  • Proficiency in simulation software (e.g., AERMOD, Predictor/iNoise) and spreadsheet modeling.
  • Familiarity with international standards and guidelines (e.g., ISO, ANSI, WHO, EPA).

PREFERRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Hands-on experience with vibration, noise, and air quality monitoring equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail, mathematical aptitude, and high-quality deliverables.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE:

The Noise and Vibration Technician/Technologist at Martech Group will be responsible for Field and Office components to complete Noise, and/or Vibration assessments at work locations. This position will focus on supporting environmental and regulatory compliance through meticulous data collection, analysis, and reporting utilizing equipment such as Sound Level Meters and Vibration Sensors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Regulatory Reporting:
  • Develop Noise Impact Assessments for MECP submissions, including EAs, ECAs, EASRs, and municipal Land Use Compatibility assessments.
  • Create Vibration Assessments for projects and Zone of Influence (ZOI) assessments for municipalities and other agencies.
  • Field Work and Equipment Calibration:
  • Conduct on-site noise, vibration, and air quality monitoring using specialized equipment.
  • Calibrate field equipment to ensure accurate and compliant measurements.
  • Perform site assessments in diverse environments, including urban, industrial, and rural settings.
  • Modeling and Calculations:
  • Build and run simulation models using software such as AERMOD and Predictor/iNoise.
  • Use advanced spreadsheets and modeling tools to support calculations and ensure accurate assessments.
  • Defend the conclusions of reports through sound technical reasoning and data validation.
  • Peer Reviews and Consulting:
  • Provide peer review services for municipalities on noise, vibration, and air quality reports.
  • Collaborate with clients, engineers, and regulatory bodies to address environmental concerns and ensure compliance.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Knowledge:
  • Ensure adherence to Occupational Health and Safety standards related to vibration, noise, and air quality.
  • Assess workplace safety risks and recommend mitigation strategies for noise and vibration hazards.
  • Understand environmental health risks, including the impacts of poor air quality and high noise levels on public health.
  • Other Duties:
  • Troubleshoot construction monitoring equipment and review related reports.
  • Support other environmental projects and initiatives as assigned.
