JOB DESCRIPTION for NOKIA CONVERGENT CHARGING (NCC) Job Role & Competencies Strong working knowledge in Prepaid Billing System, with hands-on expertise in NCC (Nokia Convergent Charging) and related modules. Experience with cloud-native NCC deployments is an added advantage. The candidate must have a strong understanding of telecom charging systems, integration with network elements, and the ability to troubleshoot and enhance charging functionalities. Strong knowledge of NCC architecture and components deployed in a distributed architecture. Solid understanding of NCC operational processes, including application monitoring, health checks, maintenance activities, Site isolations etc., Hands-on experience in software/systems design and development, particularly in billing-related applications within large-scale telecom environments. Proven Service Management experience in a telecom IT operations environment, including SLA tracking, KPI monitoring, and post-incident reviews. Exposure to other BSS/OSS systems such as CRM, Middleware, Mediation Zone (MZ), ICT, Postpaid systems, and their integration points with OCS. Experience working with international telecom operators and cross-cultural teams, especially within managed services or global delivery models. Ability to engage with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements, provide solution updates, and align deliverables to expectations. Ensure timely solution delivery and issue resolution within agreed SLA targets. Ensure compliance with internal governance standards, security policies, and regulatory requirements. Knowledge and application of ITIL best practices for incident, problem, and change management. Capable of resolving complex escalations raised by business units and minimizing customer impact by ensuring quick turnaround times. Work closely with Service Managers and Delivery Leads to provide accurate incident reporting, RCA, and continuous improvement inputs. Contribute to improving Net Promoter Scores (NPS) by ensuring billing reliability, proactive error resolution, and customer-centric issue handling. Provide mentorship and leadership to team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, ownership, and accountability. Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for billing domain issues and complex production challenges. Proactively identify risks and inefficiencies, and propose solutions to improve system stability, job performance, and operational efficiency. Recommend and lead initiatives for process innovation, automation, and productivity improvement across the billing landscape. Knowledge And Experience Primary Skill: Must have 4-13 years of experience in the Telecom Billing domain, with hands-on expertise in Nokia Convergent Charging (NCC). Experience with cloud-native NCC deployments is an added advantage. In-depth Telecom domain knowledge, including customer lifecycle management, usage charging, account hierarchies, and financial processing. Deep understanding of Nokia convergent charging (VNF/CNF) architecture, components, workflows and functionalities, including: Real-time charging, balance management, rating, and tariff plans. Event-based and session-based charging. Data, Voice, SMS call flows. Quality of Service Roaming Service Manager, Managed Element, OAME, IOHO, IOHD etc., Isolation of sites (SM and ME) and distributed architecture. Design and implement charging logic using NCC tools and APIs. Develop and maintain custom scripts and workflows for charging scenarios. Proficiency in Diameter protocol and integration using SOAP/REST APIs. Exposure to 5G charging architecture and standards (CHF, PCRF etc.) Should be familiar with extraction and analysis of .pcap files (call trace). Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. Experience in monitoring NCC applications, performing sanity checks, and ensuring system health. Working knowledge of monitoring and visualization tools like Grafana, Prometheus, Netcool, and Telemetry. Hands-on experience with scripting and data transformation technologies: UNIX/Linux Shell scripting. Oracle PL/SQL (procedures, packages, collections) Perl, XML, JSON for data parsing and interface development Knowledge of other scripting languages like Perl, Python, Java. Expertise in solution architecture and design of complex billing systems and integrations (e.g., CRM, Mediation, Finance, Network). Proven ability to design end-to-end billing solutions with scalability, compliance, and performance in mind. Experience in customizing and deploying NCC components, including configuration and enhancement. Exposure to cloud migration strategies, DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git) is an added advantage.
