  The Building Center, Inc.   Job Title: Non-CDL Driver Reports to: Operations Manager FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt Division: Greensboro, NC Summary:   Delivers complete, accurate, and on-time deliveries to the company’s customers. Represents the company in a highly professional, safe, and cost-effective manner that complies with DOT and other applicable regulations.   Job Duties: * Prepares truck for operation by assisting in and overseeing the loading of truck and securing of items and by verifying the accuracy of shipping papers * Inspects truck tires, lights, brakes, fluids, etc., to ensure safe and cost-effective performance, with preventive maintenance in mind * Delivers orders via the most effective route to ensure complete orders are delivered according to established timeframes and customers’ needs * Maintains communication with company during deliveries to ensure any updated instructions are received * Documents delivery, accuracy, and receipt of orders by the customer according to company directives and reports any discrepancies to company * Increases customer satisfaction by collecting information and feedback on service and resolving complaints per company policy; communicates information back to company * Informs customers of new products and services that can increase customer satisfaction and sales * Maintains and monitors truck maintenance and driving record requirements; maintains required documents for safety, security, and quality processes * Updates job knowledge * Safely operates forklifts and other warehouse equipment, as required * Maintains a safe driving record free of violations * Performs occasional warehouse and counter duties * Maintains proficiency in computerized systems and other technologies, as required * Follows company policies and procedures * Performs other duties, as assigned   Qualifications & Requirements: * Superior customer service * Professional demeanor * Working knowledge of DOT rules and regulations * Ability to effectively communicate information to dispatch and customers * Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions * Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables * Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved, written or oral instructions * Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations * Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos * Ability to write simple correspondence   Education/Experience:   High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred, but not required.
