Position Summary We’re seeking a Nonprofit Controller / Senior Staff Accountant to manage accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of nonprofit clients. This role ensures GAAP compliance, supports strategic decision-making, and maintains strong internal controls. Key Responsibilities · Oversee day-to-day accounting (GL, AP/AR, payroll, cash management) · Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports · Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit fund accounting standards · Assist with Form 990, audits, and regulatory filings · Monitor grant compliance and restricted vs. unrestricted funds · Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis · Prepare financial statements and present insights to clients/leadership · Manage accounting systems (QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Real Page) · Identify process improvements and maintain strong internal controls · Supervise and mentor staff (as applicable) Requirements Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred) · 5–10+ years of accounting experience, including nonprofit · Strong knowledge of fund accounting and grant management · Experience with QuickBooks or similar systems · Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills Preferred · Experience with nonprofit boards and finance committees · Federal/state grant compliance experience · Advanced Excel skills Compensation & Benefits · Salary: $120,000–$150,000+ DOE · Full-Time | Flexible/Remote Work · Medical, Dental, HSA (with employer contribution) · SIMPLE IRA with employer match · PTO, paid holidays, short-term disability
