Description Supervisor: Nordic Director Department: Snowsports School Position Summary: Provide Nordic Center customer services, snowmobile grooming assistance, and snowshoe trail winter packing when needed. Assist other departments when needed. Be a good will ambassador on and off the hill and should conduct his/her person accordingly. He/She will maintain a professional attitude and appearance to reflect 49° North Mountain Resort and the Snowsports School in a positive and professional manner. Job Relationship: Respond To: Guests, Nordic Director Inter-Relationship: Work closely with other staff, ski Instuctors, and Director to better serve our guests. Duties and Responsibilities: Provide customer with any information that will help insure their safe participation in skiing at 49° North. Assist with snowmobile grooming and track setting of Nordic trails on a daily basis. Maintain and/or develop a thorough knowledge of current trends in snowsports equipment; most specifically our rental ski and snowshoe equipment. Know how to size and fit rentals for our guests. Pack snowshoe routes regularly and be an ambassador to our guests while on the ski or snowshoe trails. Promote 49° North Mountain Resort and safe skiing. Assist the Ski Patrol in rescue operations in the event of avalanche, lost skiers, chair lift failure, and ski accidents when requested. Assist in run grooming, i.e. clearing of windfall, teaching area set up and take down, etc. Maintain cleanliness/care of Nordic facilities, resort property, and company equipment. Be able to describe runs by name and give directions to their locations. Additional duties may be assigned Requirements Qualifications Knowledge/Experience operating a snowmobile or willingness to participate in on the job training to acquire the skills Experience: Possess good verbal communications skills, possess skiing/snowshoeing ability of advanced intermediate or the willingness to acquire the skills. Other Requirements: Ability to maintain a professional appearance/attitude and to be prompt/on time. Willingness to voluntarily participate in educational clinics to improve personal skiing/riding skills and understanding of the fundamental skills. Ability to develop a thorough understanding of resort policies and procedures. Must attend all scheduled work days and check in with the Nordic Director when at the resort on non-assigned days. Maintain an acceptable degree of physical fitness and health and a thorough understanding of “Your Responsibility Code”. Willingness to pass a background check to be able to work with children/youth. Environmental Factor: Frequent lifting of items weighing 40 Lbs. or more, and shoveling snow when necessary. Attaching and unhooking grooming implement regularly Ability to excavate snow and unhook groomer from a stuck snowmobile May encounter severe weather while performing duties Sitting, standing, walking and/or skiing for extended periods of time.
