NPD PROCESS & PACKAGING TECHNOLOGIST (NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT - FOOD/PACKAGING)

Candour Talent Recruitment is excited to be working on an exclusive opportunity for an NPD Process & Packaging Technologist to join a leading food manufacturing business. This role is perfect for a food industry professional with experience in new product development and packaging solutions, looking to work in a fast-paced environment where innovation and quality are key.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Degree in a food-related discipline or equivalent (CPP Accreditation/PIABC preferred).
2-3 years’ experience within the food industry, ideally in NPD or packaging development.
Experience in packaging design, material selection, and cost analysis.
Strong understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
Highly organised, proactive, and detail-oriented, with strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

Working closely with the NPD Manager and production teams, you will be responsible for developing product concepts into full-scale factory manufacture. You’ll be involved in recipe formulation, packaging design, sourcing ingredients and materials, and coordinating product trials-ensuring products meet customer expectations and manufacturing efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and refine new product recipes to ensure quality and taste remain consistent in manufacturing.
  • Support the Sales & Business Development Team with technical issues related to new products.
  • Source ingredients and packaging materials, ensuring they meet production requirements.
  • Organise and oversee production trials, ensuring process efficiency and smooth product launches.
  • Manage the packaging process, including material selection, design, cost analysis, and machine compatibility.
  • Coordinate with the HACCP Team Leader to ensure new products comply with food safety standards.
  • Work closely with the Engineering and Production teams to evaluate cost-saving opportunities and improve efficiency.
  • Generate factory documentation, including specifications, packaging standards, processes, and recipe sheets.
  • Oversee nutritional testing and shelf-life evaluations for new products.
